Three primary studies on immigration – What are they?

The importance of Canada immigration can hardly be overstated. In today’s face of an increasingly tight labor market and the increasing scarcity of well-trained, properly employed workers are recognized to improve economic growth. While no one likes to think about it, job losses are fairly common as employers try to save money by moving people to more labor-intensive locations – and to avoid the costs and risks of hiring and training new employees. As a result, open positions become filled by people seeking better pay and working conditions.

As workers from various countries come to work in other states, many new immigrants have families and friends as well. As long as these individuals can prove they have family in the state – even if they have lived elsewhere for many years – they can work under the auspices of receiving social security benefits. But other requirements must be met to become eligible for social security benefits. Those who want to become legal residents of the state must generally demonstrate two things: that they have lived in the state for six months or more; and that they have been employed by a company or for at least five of the past ten years. Other requirements include having children who are from the other country’s citizens or are minor.

Another important consideration is the impact of new immigrants on the state’s economy. Though there are no official estimates available, it is widely acknowledged that the impact of immigration on the working population has been positive over the past few years. Some research indicates that this is due to a greater rate of return to immigrants, which is evident by the fact that more recent immigrants (that is, those who arrived in recent years) are better educated than older generations.

The third major study on the impact of immigration to Australia comes from the Department of Labor. The Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics seeks to monitor employment trends, unemployment rates, and demographics, among every large sector of the economy. Because the economic recession has made it difficult for many to find employment, especially at the low end of the spectrum, they seek to provide consistent data on employment and trends for all sectors of the economy. For this reason, they analyzed the trends in the country for foreign-born workers, specifically identifying those native-born citizens who are either currently unemployed or have been terminated from their jobs.
